Our core executive team for QBE Regional Insurance oversee all operations and direct the business services that support our insurance subsidiaries.

Tony Cid, Head of Regional

Appointed Head of Regional in 2011, Tony Cid oversees all Regional operations, including sales, underwriting and distribution. He joined QBE in 2009. He has nearly 28 years of industry experience, most of it in executive roles including chief financial officer -where he led large-scale technology, process and infrastructure change programs - as well as developed business profitability strategies. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance and marketing from Rutgers University and a master's degree in business management from LaSalle University.

Chris Alberghini, Head of Strategic Planning

Chris Alberghini was named head of strategic planning in 2007. Since joining Unigard in 1995, he has held various positions in the claims, commercial lines and marketing departments. Alberghini graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in economics.

Arne Chatterton, Senior Vice President, Western Region

Arne Chatterton was appointed Senior Vice President, Western Region in 2011 to head activities in the Northwest, Intermountain and Southwest Regions. A 30-year insurance industry veteran, he has led sales, marketing, agency and field operations - as well as underwriting and pricing - for QBE's regional operations for nearly two decades. He holds several professional designations, including Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), Associate in Automation Management (AAM), Associate in Personal Insurance (API) and Associate in Underwriting (AU).

Roger Droste, Vice President, Central Region

Roger Droste was named Vice President, Central Region in 2012. A 23-year insurance industry veteran, he has been with QBE since 1995 and has worked in the underwriting (personal and commercial), marketing and sales, reinsurance, and rates and regulatory areas of the business. Before being appointed to his new position, Droste served as QBE's Regional Vice President, Southern Region from 2004 to 2011. He holds several professional designations, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Droste graduated from Miami University with bachelor's degrees in Finance and Economics. He also holds an MBA in Management from Miami University.

Richard Kalina, Regional Leader - Midwestern Operations

Richard Kalina was named Senior Vice President, Central Region in 2011. He has been with QBE for more than 30 years, overseeing QBE's Wisconsin Region, as well as commercial insurance lines at the regional level. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota and the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. In addition, he serves on the Wisconsin Compensation Rating Bureau Finance Committee, the Workers' Compensation Research Institute Comp Scope Committee and the Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin Education Committee.

Steve Salar, Operations Manager

Steve Salar joined QBE the Americas in 2010 and was named Operations Manager for the Regional business in 2011. Over the past 20 years he has held various management positions in operations, claims, compliance and risk management within the insurance and financial services sectors. Before joining QBE, Salar worked at Farmers Insurance, Balboa Insurance Group (Bank of America/Countrywide), the AIG SunAmerica Companies and the Law Offices of K.S. Shakib. Salar is a graduate of California State University, Northridge and has his Property & Casualty Broker-Agent license (CA).

Diana L. Van Horn, Regional Head of Strategic Agent Marketing

Diana Van Horn was named Head of Strategic Agent Marketing in 2011, responsible for establishing a consistent sales and service approach to highlight products and penetrate new markets across the company. Before that, she served 10 years as a regional vice president. In addition to more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, she holds the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, three Associates degrees in Risk Management (ARM), Underwriting (AU) and Management (AIM). She also earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations.
